WasteNot Wins 2026 Outstanding Public-Private Partnership Award For Work With Cook County Sheriff’s Office
WasteNot’s CEO, Liam Donnelly, accepts the 2026 Outstanding Public-Private Partnership Award at the Illinois Circularity Conference.
On August 19, 2026, the Illinois Recycling Foundation awarded WasteNot the 2026 Outstanding Public-Private Partnership Award for our work with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. The award was accepted by WasteNot’s CEO, Liam Donnelly, at the Illinois Circularity Conference in Tinley Park.
WasteNot returned finished compost to the Sheriff’s Urban Farming Program in Spring 2026.
WasteNot has collected over 250,000 pounds of food scraps from the Cook County Department of Corrections’ daily food preparation with the goal to provide a full-circle compost program. Those scraps were returned to Sheriff Tom Dart’s Urban Farming Program in the form of finished compost.
WasteNot is proud to support this 25-year-old farming program that has provided over 50 tons of finished product to nonprofits, taught horticulture to more than 500 individuals in custody, and certified more than 200 master gardeners.
